Grade C Nut is a fastener with a threaded hole. It is fixed to a screw, bolt, or stud to offer a clamping force and stop axial movement. Grade C Lock Nut has feature unique design that prevents them from loosening when exposed to vibrations. It is also known as locking nut, self-locking nut, stiff nut, elastic stop nut or prevailing torque nut. ASTM A563 Grade C Heavy Hex Nuts are produced from Low Carbon Steel. It is a type of steel that contains 0.05% to 0.25% of carbon within it. The carbon within the steel makes it easy to cut, form, and weld and has a wide variety of uses. Grade C Top Lock Nut is crimped top to prevent loosening. ASTM A563 Grade C Nut is done by slightly twisting the threads of the mating part. It provides good high heat applications up to 450°F. After using a top lock nut the threads on the mating part are unusable. Commonly used in the automotive industry. Carbon Steel Grade C Nylon Insert Nut is a torque prevailing nut which uses a nylon insert located towards the top of the nut, reducing its inner diameter, which then deforms over the mating thread. This catches the bolt or screw to provide a locking feature causing resistance or prevailing torque and keeping the nut resistant to vibration and locked in position. This design feature means that the screw threads do not cause damage to the nylon section and it allows the nut to be reused. It is an economic locking nut and ideal in applications where vibration or motion could loosen or undo the nut.
