Bronze with phosphorus Phosphor bronze is a kind of material used to make fasteners. The material comes in several grades, which are utilised to create fasteners. Viha Steel & Forging is a major maker of several grades of phosphor bronze nuts and bolts. The composition of the material grades ranges from 0.5 percent to 11 percent tin and 0.01 percent to 0.35 percent phosphorus. Fasteners come in a variety of kinds, including phosphor bronze wood screws and metallic screws. Copper is the most abundant element in the substance, accounting for up to 85.97 percent of the total.
The phosphor bronze thrust washer, which is utilised between a rotating component and a stationary component, is one of the several kinds. These are corrosion-resistant and able to endure high temperatures in engines and exhaust systems. When the rod does not have a head and can be attached with bolts or without, the phosphor bronze threaded rod is utilised. There are several grades of the material, each of which is suitable for a certain use. The minimum tensile strength and yield strength of the Astm C54400 Phosphorous Bronze Fasteners are 470 MPa and 385 MPa, respectively, with a 20% elongation rate and an 80 RB hardness.
The material may also melt at temperatures of up to 1000 degrees Celsius. The UNS C51000 Phosphorous Bronze Fasteners contain up to 95% copper and have a melting point of up to 954 degrees Celsius. The minimum yield strength of UNS C51900 Phosphorous Bronze Fasteners is 586 MPa, while the minimum tensile strength is 661 MPa. The melting point of the material is up to 930 degrees Celsius. The UNS C52100 Phosphorous Bronze Fasteners have a maximum tin content of 7%, a minimum tensile strength of 585 MPa, and a minimum yield strength of 415 MPa.
