The Forged Fittings of Stainless Steel 304L are the low carbon equivalent of the Forged Fittings of Grade SS 304. During the welding process, the lower carbon variant assists in minimizing chromium carbide precipitation. The decline in chromium carbide precipitation leads to less loss of the anti-corrosive potency responsible for the chromium material. The Forged Fittings ASTM A240 SS 304L can be used in extremely corrosive conditions. The SS UNS S30403 Forged Fittings have a balanced austenitic structure that contributes to outstanding properties of forming and welding. Without the requirement of intermediate annealing, they can also be drawn severely deep. In heavy gauge parts, the SS 304L Forged Fittings are used extensively. They can also withstand chlorides of up to approximately 200 mg/L of potable water. To achieve full corrosion resistance in the ASTM A240 SS 304L Forged Fittings, post-weld annealing is not needed. In intermittent service to 870 °C, and in continuous service to 925 °C, SS 304L Forged Fittings have strong oxidation resistance. When subsequent aqueous corrosion resistance is necessary, continuous use of 304L Forged Fittings in the 425-860 °C range is not recommended. SS 304L Forged Fittings are more resistant to precipitation of carbide and can be heated to this range of temperature.

Applications of 304L Forged Fittings in stainless steel are predominantly used in applications where excessive stress loads are present.
