The ASTM A325 Structural Bolts provide outstanding resistance to corrosion and oxidation, which opens its doors to a wide range of applications.
A tension control bolt (TCB Bolt) or a A325 Structural Bolts is a heavy duty fastener that is used in steel frame construction. The head is of the tension control bolt is usually constructed in the shape of a dome. This dome shaped head is the reason why it can’t be driven.
The end of the shank on the A325 Bolt has a spline on it. A spline is a built in tension control device that ensures the optimum tension levels have been achieved with each installation. This spline, added by the ASTM A325 Structural Bolts Manufacturers is known to be engaged by a special power wrench. This in turn prevents the A325 Galvanized Bolts from turning while the nut is being tightened. The spline shears off, when the appropriate torque has been achieved. The snapping off of the spline is a visual confirmation that the proper tension has been achieved as well as the installation has been done correctly.
The A325 Anchor Bolt Faster to install than conventional nuts and bolts. The ASTM F1852 specification covers 2 types of heat treated steel tension control bolt-nut-washer assemblies. These assemblies, referred to as “sets” are capable of developing a minimum predetermined tension during installation by the application of torque to the nut. At the same time, a counter torque can be applied in order to separate the spline end from the body of the bolt with the help of an appropriate spline drive installation tool.
The minimum tensile strength for the alloy of ASTM F1852 standard ranges between 830 Mpa to 1040 Mpa. The specification of the ASTM A325 Bolts standard was implemented in 2016, after withdrawing the A325. Thus, making path for a new standard.
A325 Tension Control Bolts specification covers 2 kinds of quenched and tempered steel heavy hex structural bolts. The minimum tensile strength of the ASTM F3125 Grade A325 Tension Control Bolt Material is about 120 Ksi for sizes 1” and less while the strength for sizes over 1” to 11/2 is around 105 Ksi.
