The Stainless Steel 304L Flanges are the low carbon counterpart to the Flanges of Grade SS 304. The lower carbon version helps to minimize chromium carbide precipitation during the welding process. The reduction of chromium carbide precipitation results in less degradation of the chromium material’s anti-corrosive potency. The ASTM A182 SS 304L Flanges can be used in highly corrosive settings. The structured austenitic construction of the SS UNS S30403 Flanges leads to excellent shaping and welding properties. They can also be drawn incredibly deep without the need for intermediate annealing. The SS 304L Flanges are commonly used in heavy gauge sections. They can also tolerate chlorides in potable water up to around 200 mg/L. Post-weld annealing is not needed to achieve maximum corrosion resistance in ASTM A182 SS 304L Flanges. SS 304L Flanges have outstanding oxidation resistance in sporadic service up to 870°C and continuous service up to 925°C. Continuous use of 304L Flanges in the 425-860 °C range is not recommended when subsequent aqueous corrosion resistance is required. Stainless steel 304L Flanges are more resistant to carbide accumulation and can be heated to this temperature range.
